Some of the features that make STELLA LUNA special are:
STELLA LUNA has had two meticulous owners who have maintained and improved her at every opportunity. All of her scheduled maintenance is up-to-date, and she is turn-key, ready to depart for whatever horizon you have on your itinerary.
The Krogen 58' is strongly and intelligently constructed using just three major fiberglass parts- the hull, the deck/superstructure, and the flybridge-deckhouse top. This unitized construction process requires complex tooling but results in a high degree of structural integrity and lessens the number of joints and seams that could leak or squeak over time. The hull bottom starts with a high-quality gelcoat, and then two layers of fiberglass wet out in premium vinylester resin to prevent osmotic blistering. From the keel to above the waterline, the thick, highly impact-resistant, Twaron reinforced hull is solid fiberglass, supported by full-length, foam-cored fiberglass stringers. Solid mahogany replaces the foam core in way of the engines to absorb mounting bolt loads, and to add mass, reducing vibration levels throughout the yacht. Watertight, structural plywood bulkheads, slotted to receive the continuous stringers, are installed on foam cant strips to avoid direct contact with the hull, eliminating potential hard spots, and then tabbed to the hull and fully encapsulated in fiberglass. Lead ballast is placed in the hollow keel and fiberglassed permanently in place. Above the waterline, the hull sides are cored with two layers of 3/4" Airex structural foam, a time-consuming process that produces a strong, impact-resistant structure at moderate weight. The decks and superstructure are cored with Divinycell foam for light weight and stiffness; the boat deck, for example, feels like a concrete slab underfoot. All this attention to structural detail reduces topside weight, making her more stable, and moderates her motion in a seaway. Structural foam core materials are used in part because they best resist water absorption, and add acoustic and thermal insulation, making the Krogen 58' more comfortable in all weather and climate conditions. As a result, the yacht is quieter and easier to heat and cool. In anticipation of transoceanic, all-weather use, American Bureau of Shipping and Lloyds’ class standards were used as guidelines in the design of the 58'. Those standards include the hull structure, and safety features such as deck scupper dimensions to meet water-shedding requirements. Hull and superstructure molds from high-grade female tooling. Hull construction includes use of USA-made, Cook® gel coat; Knytex (in combination with mat and Airex®) above waterline; solid fiberglass lamination below waterline, with blister-resistant vinylester resins utilized on first laminates. Kevlar-reinforced stem and stern bottom areas. Superstructure includes Knytex® and mat (in combination with end-grain balsa and/or Divinycell® cores) and surface mats for print-through reduction. Teak aft and side decks. Boat and fore decks have GripTex® non-skid finish. Bulwark has molded plank lines with gel coat finish. Polyurethane formulate marine sealants used at hull-to-deck, boat deck joints and exterior fittings. Marine-grade plywood bulkheads with molded fiberglass hat section stringers. Interior finished with handcrafted solid American cherry, Formica® and veneers.
The saloon on the Krogen 58' is spacious, airy, and very accommodating.
Entering through double powder coated weather-tight aluminum doors from the full covered aft deck, STELLA LUNA has a large L-shaped Ultraleather settee and expandable hi-lo table to starboard. To port is an upholstered sofa that converts to twin berths, or a double berth.
There are opening windows to port, starboard and in the aft bulkhead. Each window is fitted with a cherry valance, 2-way shades, and screens. There is also a retractable screen for the double aft doors.

There is a separate entrance from the starboard side deck through a Diamond SeaGlaze welded aluminum Dutch door making for effortless provisioning and ventilation. The galley is open to the saloon allowing for uninterrupted conversation with the guests while preparing meals. Opposite the galley is the buffet with an ice maker below. The pantry is forward of the buffet and there is additional storage in the steps leading to the pilothouse.
Forward is the owners suite, with a custom berth that also lifts with hydraulic cylinder assists to access an enormous storage compartment. The berth has been expertly modified by a true craftsman to expand the sleeping area, and at the same time maintaining the fine fit and finish found throughout the cabin. The result is a berth that is wider than a king size bed in the head and shoulder area, and that blends in perfectly with the surroundings.
There are two large hanging lockers, a chest of drawers and large drawers at the end of the berth. All drawers are on stainless glide sliders. The owner's head and separate stall shower is to port with an aluminum and glass bi-fold door. Natural ventilation is unparalleled with hatches and opening ports. There are four large opening stainless steel ports in the stateroom, two in the head, and one in the shower. There are two Lewmar Ocean Series overhead hatches over the berth to catch breezes while at anchor and creating a bright and airy feeling. The Lewmar hatches as well as all ports are fitted with screens. There is also a Furuno RD 33 multifunction display for anchor monitoring at night.
To starboard is a guest stateroom outfitted with a queen size berth. Beneath the berth is a section that provides an abundant storage area that is currently used to stow the extensive spare parts inventory.

The door hardware is all Mobela. Also all doors and lockers are fitted with O-ring gasket material (signature feature again) to greatly reduce noise transfer from room to room. Two large opening stainless steel ports provide natural light and ventilation.
The guest head and separate stall shower is located just forward of the starboard guest stateroom. The countertop is granite. Also a large opening stainless steel porthole in the shower will provide natural light and ventilation. There is also a powered exhaust fan that vents outside the boat.
The pilothouse is up five steps from the saloon and galley area. A Pompanette Platinum Yacht Seating chrome and Ultraleather helm chair provides the captain with a comfortable seat to stand watch. The pilothouse settee, which has been upgraded to Ultraleather, can be converted to a large double berth. Much consideration was given to the bridge layout for navigational electronics, instrument panels and monitors. This is a very important area that is many times overlooked, but on lengthy passages becomes of tremendous value. In STELLA LUNA, the pilothouse is very large and visibility is unparalleled in a comparably-sized yacht! There is also custom storage built into the settee deck.
As you enter from the starboard side boarding door turning aft, you walk through a wing weather door and into the spacious and fully-covered "back porch", a signature feature of all Kadey-Krogen yachts that effectively becomes an extension of the saloon. The cockpit decking is teak and bonded rather than screwed down. A large Fridgibar marine deck freezer sits to the starboard side of the cockpit. There are two Glendinning Cablemaster 50 amp power inlets in the aft cabin bulkhead. A convenient hot & cold fresh water shower hose is enclosed in a compartment on the transom. Exiting through the transom boarding door takes you to the swim platform. The swim platform has an undermount telescoping swim ladder, and there is a socket mounted 2" stainless steel stern staple with cross bar for an additional hand hold, and an additional set of sockets for stowing the staple out of the way when not in use.
The Portuguese bridge has a fully functional wing station for effortless docking. Forward of the Portuguese bridge are port and starboard seats with new Sunbrella cushions and storage beneath. The foredeck is completely uncluttered and the high rails and bulwarks provide a real sense of security, even in a seaway. The heart of the anchoring system is a Maxwell hydraulic horizontal windlass with a center capstan and dual anchor pulpit, and over-sized ground tackle. There are shore power inlets when berthed bow-to.
Heading around the port side of the Portuguese bridge leads you up to the boat deck and flybridge. Just to port of the steps leading up to the flybridge from the boat deck is a generous storage locker that spans the entire subfloor of the flybridge. The flybridge has an L-shaped dinette to port and to starboard there are two helm chairs. The flybridge is equipped with an arch that can be lowered to clear fixed bridges and makes STELLA LUNA capable of doing the Great Loop. Also, you can get all your vitamin D while enjoying the large and very comfortable custom sun pad forward of the flybridge on the pilothouse roof, unique to STELLA LUNA.
One of the unique features of STELLA LUNA'S boat deck is the versatile sectional lounge covered in Sunbrella fabric which creates a very contemporary and relaxed mood. This entire area can be shaded by the new sun awning, and the awning can be easily removed for night time star gazing. The Weber BBQ grill adds even more functionality to this very popular area.
The 14' AB RIB is stowed athwart on the aft boat deck allowing for the large uninterrupted lounge area forward. There is an access gate to provide convenient access to the RIB and Steelhead crane.
