J. Robert Seidelmann designed and built a number of sailboats ranging in size from 24 feet to 37 feet in New Jersey in the 1970’s through the 1980’s. The short lived success of the company resulted in the brand not becoming as popular as some of the other mass produced of that era. Nevertheless, Seidelmann built fine sailboats for racers, day sailors and cruisers. This Seidelmann 299 has served the seller well on short day sails and longer cruises. After making significant upgrades to the boat after several years, the seller, an electrical engineer, is moving up to a bigger sailboat.
A partial list of the improvements includes: a custom built new interior; new plumbing; new seacocks; new wiring with all lights converted to LED, including navigation lights; 100 Amp alternator; new Danfoss 12 volt refrigeration system; new cushions; new rigging; new Bomar hatches and ports; new deck and interior paint; new windlass with G4 chain rode; dripless shaft seal. The seller has invested far more than the listed price.
Power is provided by a Yanmar 2QN15 with approximately 2000 hours.
The length of this boat is 29’11”. She is 24’ at the waterline. The beam is 11’. She weighs 8,000 pounds; ballast is 3,600 pounds.
This boat offers a very roomy main salon with a very clean and updated look. Headroom is 6’4”.
