A well known and loved boat on the East coast, this Marshall 22 is a "rare find" out here! The Marshall 22 Catboat Askov is a rugged, sea-kindly boat with classic looks that will turn heads in any harbor. A perfect boat to expand your cruising grounds, her two foot draft will let you access anchorages and coves, off limits to most cruising sailboats. The 5.5' draft with the centerboard down helps with pointing upwind. Askov is roomy enough for a social evening sail and simple enough for a couple, to enjoy a relaxing weekend away from home.
An elegant daysailer, this comfortable social boat may be the fun one you have been looking and dreaming about. On the East Coast Marshall catboats are considered cruisers and her owners have sailed their boats from New England to Florida and reportedly as far North as Greenland.
Accommodations below are simple and efficient, with two traditional settee berths, a practical galley and a generous table midship. The hull and side decks are solid fiberglass, with an integral centerboard trunk. Foredecks, cabin tops and transoms are reinforced with closed cell foam. White hull is standard, with deck and cockpit color choice of buff, bone, white or gray. Cabin sides are white and the bottom is painted with two coats anti-fouling paint.
Ideally suited for the San Juan's, Askov has the stability and shallow draft to allow you to explore. Well cared for, Askov has a custom designed interior, and a Yanmar 3YM20 diesel engine, with 3-blade prop. There's geared wheel steering, tasteful cockpit cushions for six, and even a below decks autopilot. The galley has plenty of storage, sink, stove, and even icebox refrigeration.
Best of all is the simple self-tacking gaff catboat rig, controlled by a single sheet! There isn't even a winch on the boat, but there are two halyards. The high peak of the gaff rig put's the center of effort over the beam of the boat, and makes it easy to de-power the single sail. What a beautiful boat!!!
