One of Australia’s most iconic and successfully campaigned catamarans, the 56ft Windswept 2 was professionally built by Hart Marine in Melbourne with an all carbon composite construction. She has been completely refitted by the current owner over a number of years to become one of the most beautiful, exciting and stable blue water cruising catamarans in the world.
With shorthanded use being a priority, she has been re-rigged with a brand-new aluminium Allyacht spars mast setup with Solent, Staysail and Screecher and is now easily handled by a couple with respectable average off wind cruising speeds using only the small furling staysail. Want to go faster? Just put up the main, pull out the screecher and leave almost every other boat in your wake. Light wind performance also means you will be sailing when others are motoring.
The accommodation is minimalist, although comfortable and functional, and is best suited to a cruising couple. The central pod contains the main saloon with 192cm headroom. There is seating for 4-6 around the saloon table (which drops down to make a double berth), and there is also an additional 2-seater lounge. The galley has ample storage and is fitted with a 2-burner gas cooker and sink unit, with hot and cold water and a 110Lt fridge and freezer. Entertainment is provided by a large LCD TV, Fusion stereo and internal and external speakers.
The central cabin comprises two double berths with storage and another LCD TV. The forward cabin has a toilet and shower, as well as anchor chain and storage lockers. Hulls contain the Yanmar 30hp saildrive engines and loads of storage.
Windswept 2 will appeal to those who value the sailing experience as much as the cruising lifestyle. She offers exhilarating performance, is easy to sail and allows you to go anywhere and get there fast. Life is too short for regrets!
