The Moody Eclipse 33 is a highly desirable deck saloon cruising yacht offering an excellent balance of comfortable accommodation, good performance and all weather sailing capability. This is a well equipped Mk I (sought after due to the second internal helm) fin keel version, very adaptable and easily sailed due to a fully furling rig. Benefiting from recent standing rigging, furling system (both new 2010) and genoa (new 2011) she is a well equipped example that will suit anyone looking for a compact but spacious cruising yacht. Unfortunately her engine does require attention so she has been priced competitively to reflect this, reasonable offers will still be considered.
Viewing by appointment only though our Essex office on (01621) 785600
The accommodation offers 6 berths in three separate cabins.
FORWARD CABIN: Twin vee berths with an infill to create a double berth, eye level storage lockers, lined stowage beneath berths, two hanging lockers, a dressing area and carpeted sole. Hatch to foredeck with vent. Ensuite access to heads compartment.
HEADS: Located to port with a Jabsco marine toilet, wash basin with hot and cold water supply with shower pump out system, separate shower area with seat, good stowage and access via either the walkway or forecabin.
GALLEY: Located forward to starboard, the galley equipment consists of a Plastimo gimballed 2-burner gas cooker with oven and grill (new 2008), twin stainless steel sinks with hot and cold water supply, manually pumped backup water supply and a front opening refrigerator opposite. There is a folding work top over the cooker to maximise preparation space and a range of lockers and drawers provide plenty of storage for long term cruising.
SALOON WHEELHOUSE: A raised U-shaped settee area to port provides comfortable seating around a large folding leaf table which drops to convert into a double berth when required, stowage space is also provided beneath and behind the seating. A swiveling helmsman seat to starboard gives good visibility and is fitted with wheel steering, engine controls and instrumentation allowing comfortable cruising in poor conditions. A chart area is provided outboard of the helm complete with chart light and stowage.
AFT CABIN: The aft cabin is accessed directly from the saloon, an entrance area offers good locker space and a small basin with hot and cold water supply. A large fore and aft double berth has good sitting room and further lockers.
The comfortable interior has a light and spacious feel thanks to the large deck saloon windows, whilst the modern teak finished interior (has been re-stained in the past), teak and holly floors and lined interior convey a feeling of quality. Pressurised hot and cold water is supplied throughout via a calorifier also fitted with an immersion coil, and an Eberspacher diesel fired heater with 3 outlets makes year round cruising very possible!
Located under companionway, Volvo Penta 2003T 43hp 3-cylinder turbo charged marine diesel engine. Fresh water cooled. Dual single lever controls with electric start. Reduction gearbox. Shaft drive with rope cutter and Halyard deep sea seal to fixed propeller. 182 Litre fuel capacity.
The engine has only run for 292 hours since new but a recent run by an engineer has revealed that both waterpumps are leaking and the flow of cooling water is insufficient. It may well be possible for a practically minded purchaser to repair the engine at very reasonable cost however at this age many people would already be considering replacing with a more modern unit.
2 x 12V Batteries charged via engine alternator. Shorepower system with ring mains, immersion coil for water heating and battery charger. Full cabin lighting. Electrical distribution panel.
Masthead bermudan sloop rig. Deck stepped silver anodised aluminium mast and boom by Kemp. Rod kicker. Stainless steel standing rigging (new 2010). Terylene running rigging. In-mast furling mainsail. Furlex headsail furling system (new 2010). 2 x Lewmar 40 self-tailing sheet winches. 3 x Lewmar 6 reefing/control line winches.
